2014 Annual Appeal for Support
Dear Supporter,
In 1996, the Bedford Research Foundation was formed in response to a need for specialized tests and services that were not available anywhere in the world. Today, we still provide these specialized tests and it has led us to a new model of funding:
“The Foundation is a forward thinking institution that covers overhead costs with fee-for-service testing, thus allowing philanthropic donations to go directly to research.”
This innovative funding model allows Bedford Research scientists greater flexibility to move the work quickly in promising new directions. But our work to derive a human stem cell line that is resistant to HIV infection (see the video) cannot be federally funded because of an amendment currently restricting the annual budget of the National Institutes of Health. This research is, therefore, entirely dependent upon philanthropy. I am writing to ask for your support, please donate today.
In order to move this potentially life saving research forward, we need to meet annual funding goals. The average foundation laboratory experiment costs $90,000 and each experiment brings us closer to new therapies and cures.
Please become a supporter and help us do more experiments in 2015.
94% of your donation will go directly to research.Levels of Giving:
• Grant Endower – $5,000 or more
• Grant Master – $2,500 – $4,999
• Science Master – $1,000 – $2,499
• Research Fellow Supporter – $500 – $999
• Research Student Supporter – $250 – $499
• Supporter – $100 – $249
• Friend – $1 – $99
Every gift, regardless of size, makes a difference and all contributions are 501(c)(3) tax deductible. We are grateful for your generous support and continued commitment to this important work.
Sincerely,
Ann A. Kiessling, PhD
