The 2004 Activated Egg Symposium

The 2004 Symposium was held on November 5th, at the Henderson House. Thank you to all who participated for making the 2004 symposium a fantastic success!

The keynote was given by, Dr. George Daley, Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School gave the keynote address: “Stem cells in regenerative medicine and reproductive biology.” (view article) Dr. Daley was recently awarded a “Pioneer Award” from NIH for his novel research. Other 2004 speakers included:

Dr. Valerie Montgomery-Rice, Professor and Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Meharry Medical College, gave a talk entitled “The influence of gonadotropins on egg maturation in the ovary.”

Dr. Melvin DePamphilis, National Institutes of Child Health and Human Development spoke on “Eukaryotic DNA replication: from Embryo to Adult”

Dr. Cindy Tian, Center for Regenerative Medicine, University of Connecticut, gave a talk entitled: “Reprogramming of Epigenetic Inheritance by Nuclear Transfer.”

Dr. Arthur Applbaum, Kennedy School of Government, was the dinner speaker. Additional speakers included Dr. John Biggers, Dr. Rafael Fissore, and Dr. Rosario Sanchez-Pernaute.
